Apple Ring Giveaway Hoax.

Usually when we see fake photos and posts claiming to give away various goodies spread across Facebook, at least the goodies in question existed. Even if you couldn’t win them by sharing a photo.

The latest fake giveaway hoax to go viral across Facebook falsely purports to give away a product that isn’t even real. Something that doesn’t bode well for the gullible people who fell for it.

The Apple Ring, which the post claims is an interactive music player shaped like a ring, is the alleged prize on offer, just for sharing and liking a post. However the Apple Ring isn’t real. It is a fantasy concept design. You can see details on it here.

Other than that, it’s a typical Facebook giveaway hoax, that involves a spammy Facebook page posting fake giveaways in order to lure people into liking a Facebook page and getting involved in a variety of other potential scams. You can read more about fake giveaway hoaxes on Facebook here.

Remember that these types of scams can potentially have very serious consequences. The Facebook page (named Apple) that is clearly masquerading as the official Apple page has already accrued more than 80 thousand followers at the time of writing. These followers are putting themselves at risk of being exposed to more serious scams in the future.

The fake Facebook page pretending to be the Apple Facebook page doesn’t hold up under scrutiny. The Facebook page was only created recently and the web address reveals it isn’t the official page. The official Apple website links to its official Apple Facebook Page.
