Do you want a free £75 Tesco Voucher? Hard luck.

A pretty old trick has reared its ugly head again recently and that’s the classic free supermarket voucher scam that dupes readers into completing spammy surveys.

Such scams were prevelant throughout 2013, we discussed a similar instance here in December 2013, but seemed to have died down during 2014.

But it seems re-launching classic cons of the past has proven successful for the scammers. Many of these spammy links, that direct to web addresses such as coupons2014.club, use the exact same formula as past instances.

It starts with friends or pages sharing links on sites like Facebook that lead to webpages purporting to offer free supermarket vouchers, but first the webpage instructs you to share the page on your timeline and post a link to the page in Facebook groups that you are a member of.

After that, the visitor is directed to webpages that ask them to fill-out some spammy reward program questionnaires (which will spam you) that make money for the spammers in affiliate commissions (i.e. they suckered someone into signing up, so they get paid.)

Of course there are no free vouchers on offer here. This is an old, worn out template of a hoax that really should be put to rest for good. And on a side-note these scams can often try and install malware on your computer instead of asking you to fill-out questionnaires.

Hopefully those Facebook users sharing these links (and inexplicably not deleting them!) will soon wise up and catch on.

In the meantime we offer some more details and tips last time we discussed the hoax which you can read here.
