It’s not just you, Facebook has broken
Social networking giant Facebook has suffered a major glitch as users from around the world rush to report that they cannot access the site.
Many users are reported “HTTP 500” errors when trying to access parts of the site. This is a browser error code suggesting a programming error. Other users are getting a “Facebook is down for maintenance” error.
Thousands of users flocked to sites like Down Detector to report site issues that seem to be affecting users from around the world, including Europe and the US.
The outages began around 4.30pm (British Summer Time) or 11.30am (US Eastern Time) and at the time of writing has lasted for around an hour, and have effected both the desktop version of the site and the mobile app. Reports suggest that Facebook-owned Instagram is also down.
As it typical when Facebook goes down, users have flocked to Twitter. During this time, #FacebookDown has already begun to trend online.
There has yet been no official word from Facebook.
