Posts on social media claim that former Republican president George W Bush has endorsed Democratic challenger Joe Biden.

An example on social media is below.

During 2020 – given the reported animosity between George W Bush and Donald Trump – many have been keeping check on whether the 43rd president would openly endorse Trump’s challenger, Joe Biden, during the 20202 US presidential election.

However, reports that Bush has endorsed Trump are false. While many former Bush advisors and staff have endorsed Biden and while Bush has not endorsed the Trump campaign, there are no reputable sources that show Bush has endorsed Joe Biden either.

George Bush has remained tight-lipped as to who he is supporting in the 2020 US election, and it is not known who the former president intends to vote for. In 2016, Bush voted for neither Donald Trump nor Hillary Clinton. A spokesperson for Bush has told the Dallas News that the former president intends not to disclose his vote in 2020, and that he is retired from “presidential politics”.

Former President George W. Bush and his wife, Laura, will not make public how they voted in this year’s presidential race, four years after the couple revealed on Election Day that they had selected “none of the above” in the 2016 White House contest.

As such, we rank the claim that George Bush endorsed Joe Biden as false.
