Did Kamala Harris say “we are coming for you” to Trump supporters? Fact Check

Memes on social media attribute a quote to the vice president-elect Kamala Harris directed a comment at Trump supporters that “we’ll be coming for you next”.

FALSE

Memes on social media, that grew in popularity the weeks after the US presidential election, claim that vice president-elect Kamala Harris made a threatening statement directed at Trump supporters, claiming that she (and Democrats) would “seek out” Trump supporters and that they would “feel the vengeance of a nation”.

The meme reads –

And once Trump’s gone and we have regained our rightful place in the White House, look out if you supported him and endorsed his actions, because we’ll be coming for you next. You will feel the vengeance of a nation. No stone will be left unturned as we seek you out in every corner of this great nation. For it is you who have betrayed us.

The quote is fake and comes from a well-known spoof news website America’s Last Line of Defense, a site that has been responsible for kickstarting a number of fake political stories. The site marks itself as “rated Satire“. The site published the fake quote in June 2020. The site has the following disclaimer on the site –

Everything on this website is fiction. It is not a lie and it is not fake news because it is not real. If you believe that it is real, you should have your head examined. Any similarities between this site’s pure fantasy and actual people, places, and events are purely coincidental and all images should be considered altered and satirical.

This appears to be the original source of the fake quote, and there are no public records about where or when Kamala Harris made such comments. As such we rank them false.
