Claims online purport that the daughter of Adam Schiff – the chairman of the House Intelligence Committee and one of the House managers appointed to Trump’s impeachment trial – is dating the alleged “whistleblower” who first filed a complaint against the president for alleged abuse of power.
The rumour frequently uses a family photo of Adam Schiff (below) along with his wife, daughter and his daughter’s boyfriend, who – social media users falsely claim – is the alleged whistleblower.
However the claims are false. The photo that is frequently singled out as proof of the claim was actually posted by Schiff himself on November 29th 2019, long after impeachment inquiries against President Trump had started. Schiff identifies the man in the photo as his daughter’s boyfriend.

The boyfriend appears to share the same first name as the individual who has frequently been identified as the whistleblower by a number of politicians. However, at the time of writing, the whistleblower has not been formally identified and their identity is legally protected.
However, that is where the resemblance ends. There is no physical resemblance with the boyfriend of Adam Schiff’s daughter and photos purporting to show the alleged whistleblower that have circulated online. Nor is there any evidence that suggests they are one and the same person. In fact, the only “evidence” proffered by those claiming they are the same person is the rather mundane coincidence that they both happen to share the same first name.
As such, the claim that the person pictured in the photo is the specific person many have claimed to be the whistleblower is demonstrably false. Of course one could theoretically argue that since the whistleblower has not been officially identified, then it may not be the specific individual frequently identified as the whistleblower, meaning it could be any single person on the planet. And “any single person on the planet” could then theoretically include Adam Schiff’s daughter’s boyfriend that Schiff just happened to post a photo of during the impeachment inquiries. However, since Schiff has previously denied having direct contact with the whistleblower, the idea that he would then post a photo of him with that person on his social media channels is rather fanciful at best.
As such, we’re happy to rank this claim false.
