Internet Hoaxes

Are Oregon reallly omitting Trump from ballot paper? It’s a hoax

An image purporting to show a ballot in Oregon with no option to select Republican candidate Donald Trump is spreading across the Internet.

The image appears to show a ballot – posted by Twitter user @JohnLuce – that has Democratic candidate Hillary Clinton appearing twice.

A screenshot of the tweet can be seen below –

The Oregon state ballot doesn’t even bother with putting Trump on as a choice for president this year! #trumptrain #maga #election2016

The tweet was retweeted many times before the person behind it – John Lussier – confessed it was actually just a hoax and deleted it, later tweeting –

In case it’s not super obvious that last tweet from me is a hoax. Don’t believe everything you read on the internet folks.

Of course if Oregon – a state that requires ballots be mailed in – had decided to completely omit Donald Trump from the ballot paper, it would soon be rather apparent considering over 2 million Oregonians are eligible to vote in the upcoming 2016 election.

The hoaxer John Lussier later pointed out that the photoshopped image had actually taken on a life of its own and was being attributed to other states –

Last week posted photoshopped Oregon ballot claiming no Trump on it. It’s not attributes to at least 4 different states. “My friend in…”

So any claims that ballot papers are omitting Donald Trump in favour of a second Clinton listing are likely just spawned from this same prank.
