Fact Check

Ben & Jerry’s launch ‘Rosenbaum’s Heroic Hazelnut’ in support of Joseph Rosenbaum? Fact Check

Rumors on social media claim ice cream company Ben & Jerry’s has honored Joseph Rosenbaum, one of the men shot and killed by Kyle Rittenhouse during the Kenosha unrest, by launching a new ice cream flavor called ‘Rosenbaum’s Heroic Hazelnut’.

FALSE

The below graphic has been spreading online claiming that Ben & Jerry’s has launched a new ice cream flavor honoring Joseph Rosenbaum.

Ben & Jerry’s Honors Rittenhouse Shooting Victim
All profits from ‘Rosenbaum’s Heroic Hazelnut’ will be donated to the Black Lives Matter organization.

However the graphic, as per the banner in the bottom corner, comes from a Twitter channel called Victory News Network (VNN). By it’s own admission, this is a satirical parody account that does not provide genuine news.

While it is true that Ben & Jerry’s did publish a tweet on November 12th accusing the US justice system as being racist in apparent support of those Rittenhouse shot (a tweet that likely inspired the hoax above), Ben & Jerry’s has not announced any new flavor in relation to these events through any of their official channels.

And while the original claim was intended to be satirical, many have taken the claim as face value. As such we rank this claim as false.
