Links are spreading on social media that claim online retailer giant Amazon are hiring 80,000 new staff with rates up to $19 an hour.
But beware, because as many of our more sceptical readers may have already determined, these links have nothing to do with Amazon and they are not offering real jobs at Amazon.
In fact these links are leading to websites like www.amazon.employingtoday.info, www.amazon.staffsearch.pw and www.amazon.staffhiringtoday.pw that all claim that Amazon are looking for staff to fill their “brand new high tech distribution centers.”
In fact these websites have nothing to do with Amazon whatsoever, and the assertion that Amazon are hiring 80,000 new staff at $19 an hour seems to be baseless, since there are no reputable reports or sources to back up this certainly worthy [if true] news story.
The articles include links to “Apply” for the Amazon jobs, but upon clicking these links, it becomes clear how these scams work and how the people behind them benefit.
Depending on what country you live in will largely depend on where you are forwarded. For example US readers were, in most cases, referred to a largely unknown website registered this year (2015) called startacareertoday.com – UK readers were directed to a UK survey website.

In both cases these sites attempt to sign up visitors to services that are not related to Amazon in any way, and those behind the “Amazon are looking for new staff” webpage would likely get paid for referring people.
Always be careful when looking for jobs online, and be extremely sceptical when something appears to be too good to be true.
If you’re looking for jobs at Amazon – and yes they are often looking for people to join their team especially over the holiday period – then you can find job opportunities with them here.
