Can you really combine a banana and a kiwi into a hybrid fruit?

A video is spreading across the Internet that claims you can place the end of a banana with the end part of a kiwi to create a hybrid fruit.

The video refers to the technique as “grafting”. The presenter places the end of banana alongside the end of a kiwi, places the pair in soil and – according to the video – after a week or so claims they have now grown into a hybrid fruit that has the skin of a banana and the inside of a kiwi. The video purports to depict the resulting “fruit” after the grafting experiment.
