Did death forget a 179 year old man from India?
Rumours are circulating social media that a man aged 179 years old by the name of Mashashta Murasi has been discovered in India.
The rumours assert that Murasi is a retired cobbler from Northern India, and is now the oldest man who has ever lived, claiming that “death has forgotten him”.
In the city Bangalore, India, a shocking discovery has been made, the amazing Mashashta Murasi reached the age of 179 and he believes that ‘the man with the scythe’ forgot to accompany him to heaven.
However the story is nonsense, and began on a fake news website called World News Daily Report in early 2014, and recently given a new lease on life after it was more recently published again on XPhobe, but still no truer than it was back then.
We don’t know who the man in the image is. His image has been circulating for many years and has been used in memes and profile pictures for several years, long before this rumour became popular, and original use of the image contained to mention of the mans age.
We know this rumour to be fake since it was published on a site notorious for hoax starting, and that the Guinness World Records considers Jeanne Louise Calment, 122 years old, to be the oldest verified person to ever live.
