Did a Filipino/Houston girl die after falling asleep with earphones connected to a charging iPhone?
Various rumours claiming a Filipino girl died after falling asleep with her earphones still in that were connected to her iPhone which in turn was connected to the main supply whilst charging, resulting in death by electrocution.
The rumours either link back to an article published on NewsWatch33.com that claims the victim was a girl from Houston, Texas named Gabrielle Samuels, or as part of a collective of photos being shared across social media platforms like Facebook.
It doesn’t matter what variant of the rumour you encounter, because they are all false. Whilst the gruesome photos to appear to depict a real dead body, that person certainly didn’t die through electrocution, and there is no indication that her death had anything to do with wearing earphones.

There are actually several images of the body, though the NewsWatch33.com article only displays one. They have been floating across the Internet for a number of years, dating back to at least 2010, and they first appeared on Asian websites.
Many of the earlier instances of the photo seem to assert the person depicted in the photos did so after an intentional overdose, though details are rather sketchy and we cannot confirm this, though some sites include a picture of a table with pills scattered atop along with the images of the body itself.
