Did Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez claim soldiers get paid too much? Fact Check
An article spreading online claims that New York House Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez said during an open session of Congress that US soldiers are paid too much.
FALSE
The article was published on the website TatersGonnaTate.com. It reads in part –
The Cucaracha of Congress, Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez is fairly well-known for spouting out little “ideas” that most people would figure out were, well, dumb. This time, it seems the Baby Boss has been perusing the proposed budget sheet for the upcoming months, and had her little mind blown by what she saw, leading her to proclaim in an open session of Congress that : “Wow! We pay soldiers WAY too much!”
It isn’t real. TatersGonnaTate is part of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of spoof news websites that frequently publishes nonsense articles designed to lure conservative readers into sharing.
There is no record of Ocasio-Cortez making those claims on record.
TatersGonnaTate.com has a disclaimer on its page that reads –
tatersgonnatate.com is a subsidiary of the “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery
As such, nothing on the site should be believe. The site is also carrying another fake article claiming Ocaso-Cortez has proposed a nationwide ban on motorcycles.
