A screenshot of a tweet apparently from The View host Joy Behar is going viral that appears to show her claiming she hoped it was President Trump that had died in the fire at Trump Tower.
On April 6th 2018, a fire broke out in an apartment in Trump Tower killing one man and injuring 6 firefighters. In the aftermath, the below screenshot began circulating apparently from Joy Behar.
Fire at Trump tower, one dead – Hopefully it’s Trump!
The problem with screenshots of tweets on Twitter is that there are a plethora of tools on the Internet that make it extremely easy for hoaxers to create fake tweets and circulate them as if they were true. Even if such tools did not exist, it is also easy for those familiar with digital editing software such as Photoshop to digitally create such fake tweets.

That appears to be the case here, since the tweet isn’t real. While many may speculate that Joy Behar may have posted such a tweet and later removed it, that is also not possible since a number of archive and caching services also exist that archive all tweets made by high profile accounts, even tweets that had since been removed. This tweet does not show up on any such services, meaning it was almost certainly never posted.
The View, who employs Behar as a host, have confirmed that the tweet is fake with the below tweet. Joy Behar’s own account has retweeted this message as well.
Remember, screenshots of tweets simply cannot be trusted. We see fake screenshots circulating all of the time, and they are rarely legitimate.
