Did Simpsons predict Trump Death on April 12th 2025 – Fact Check
An image spreading on social media appears to show a still from TV cartoon series The Simpsons showing US president Donald Trump in a coffin, along with the caption “April 12th 2025. The End of an Era”.
Many have interpreted that this suggests The Simpsons have predicted the death of Trump on this date. The TV cartoon has a [often embellished] history of “predicting“ events that have not yet happened during its episodes.

An example of the warning can be seen below.

While The Simpsons indeed has enjoyed a selection of successful “predictions” in the past, the more recent claims about the television show’s prognostic abilities have been conjured up from thin air, including this one.
In fact this is really just a rehash of a popular reoccurring hoax that claims the cartoon predicted Trump’s death. Back in 2020, shortly after Trump had been diagnosed with Covid-19, a different image apparently from the show claimed to show Trump in a coffin along with the assertion that the show forewarned of the president’s death. In reality the images of cartoon Trump were not from any The Simpsons episode and had been created by unknown third parties.

And that too is the case with this latest incarnation of the hoax, with The Simpsons producer Matt Selman confirming that no episode has featured Trump in a coffin, nor has any episode discussed Trump’s death.
Similarly themed hoaxes also claimed The Simpsons predicted Trump’s famous descent down the escalator after announcing his 2016 presidential bid (that was false), that the show predicted the assassination attempt in Butler, Pennsylvania (also false) and also that the show predicted Trump would try and buy Greenland (again false).
But before you lose all hope in the prophetic abilities of the cartoon, The Simpsons really did “predict” the notion of a President Trump during a 2000 episode titled “Bart to the Future”, where President Lisa Simpson notes that her predecessor was none other than President Trump. (Trump had publicly toyed with the idea for running for the White House the year prior in 1999, likely the inspiration for the storyline).
