Did The Simpsons predict Viking wearing protestor on Capitol Hill? Fact Check

Rumours on social media claim the TV animated series The Simpsons predicted a man dressed as a Viking would appear on Capitol Hill as a protestor.

FALSE

An example on social media can be seen below.

The apparently supernatural-like prognostication properties of The Simpsons have been put to the test once again online, and once again they have been found wanting. This time, an image apparently of Willie the Groundskeeper outside of the Capitol Building in a Viking attire very much similar to the much-photographed protestor also dressed as a Viking.

Alas, most such Simpsons related “predictions” turn out to be either real scenes from episodes but detailing past – not future – events, or “fan art” depictions of past events that were never actual episodes.

This case is the latter. The depiction of Willie was never an episode, and was created after-the-fact by a fan. The image is just a composite of scenes from The Simpsons spliced together with some digital effects added to make the tattoos.

We have identified the Viking protestor as Jake Angeli in another fact check article here.

So, just another fake prediction, and not the first election themed fake claim from The Simpsons. Another exaggerated and misleading hoax circulated that The Simpsons predicted Armageddon on January 20th, but the facts reveal this was not the impressive prediction as one may have first believed.
