Did Trump agree to pay for July 4th parade out of his own pocket? Fact Check

An article spreading via social media claims that President Trump recently announced that he will pay for the upcoming July 4th parade and fireworks show “out of his own pocket”.

FALSE

The story, spreading primarily through Twitter, claims that the President has agreed to pay the entire $100 million price tag that the article claims has been associated with the event.

The article is hosted on the web domain TatersGonnaTate.com and an excerpt reads –

But now they can stop their crying. In an announcement that came as a surprise only to the democrats, the White House tells us that President Trump will pay the full price tag for the event out of his own pocket. Trump himself gave the good news :

However the story is not real. The website TatersGonnaTate.com is a spoof news website that disguised partisan news stories as genuine news. It is part of the America’s Last Line of Defense network of spoof news websites that specifically target politically right-wing visitors. The network hosts a number of similar websites that produce similar “news stories”.

The website contains a disclaimer on its About page that reads in part –

tatersgonnatate.com is a subsidiary of the “America’s Last Line of Defense” network of parody, satire, and tomfoolery…

The About page then goes into more detail on why the claim they produce such spoof stories.

Since no online searches can verify the claims made in the article, we can safely dismiss the claims that Trump has agreed to fund the July 4th parade in Washington DC as entirely inaccurate.
