Did Trump call Greene-Taylor ‘Sasquatch’ during BBC Interview? Fact Check

A screenshot purporting to show a BBC News interview where Donald Trump referred to Congresswoman Marjorie Greene Taylor as “sasquatch” is circulating on Twitter (X).

FALSE

The banner on the screenshot reads – “Trump calls Marjorie Taylor Greene ‘Sasquatch.’ Ex-president Trump calls State Representative Greene a sasquatch live on air.

The screenshot is fake. It was originally posted on October 16th by a Twitter account notorious for posting parody content that is often mistaken by some users as genuine. That Twitter account is “@theliamnissan”, who has over 200K followers and at the time of writing goes under the screen name “Kevin Subaru”.

The tweet can be seen below.

However this screenshot is simply an edited version of a genuine screenshot showing a BBC interview of a completely different subject. See below.

The @theliamnissan account later made a somewhat tongue-in-cheek admission to the prank with a follow-up tweet.

Given the screenshot came from an account known for parody (fake) content, and the account admitted it was fake, and there is no genuine reporting – even from the BBC were the quote was allegedly made – about the incident, we can safely regard this as fake.
