Does army cadet shirt contain vulgar profanity against President Trump? Fact Check

Images are circulating that claim to show a newly graduated cadet opening his tunic to reveal a t-shirt that read “Fuck Trump” in the Disney font alongside a picture of Mickey Mouse.

Many variants of the image include a caption that claims it was taken as West Point commencement ceremony where Trump had recently given a speech.

FALSE

However the image has been digitally altered, and the photo itself dates back to 2016.

The man in the photo is Spenser Rapone, who graduated at West Point Academy in 2016, which is where (and when) he took the photos. In the original photo below, it is actually a portrait of Argentine revolutionist Che Guevara.

Rapone subsequently published the photo in September of that year to show “solidarity” to kneeling NFL player Colin Kaepernick. He was later discharged from the army.

The photo had nothing to do with President Trump, was taken in 2016 and had been digitally altered to make it appear to show a vulgar message aimed at Trump. As such, we rank the photo false.
