An image of actor Tom Hiddleston at a restaurant is spreading virally on Twitter because commentators are pointing out that his reflection in a nearby window looks more like his Avengers character Loki than the actor himself.
The below image is spreading with many claiming that Hiddleston’s windows reflection is “creepy” since it resembles a fictional character (played by Hiddleston) more than the actor himself.
However this image has been digitally altered. In the photo Hiddleston is clearly sporting facial hair which has been wiped from the reflection in the photo, and the shape of the face has been widened.
A reverse image search reveals the original image was first uploaded at the start of 2019 by Twitter user CristianTeran and is below on the left. The digitally altered image started circulating in March 2019 and again in 2021, but as the below side-by-side shows, it is not genuine.
While some may still argue that the reflection bears some resemblance to the character Loki (which, naturally is mostly down to the fact that it is the same actor playing the character, after all) since the photo has been digitally manipulated to enhance that resemblance we will rank this claim as false.
