Facebook posts claiming to give away luxury RV’s are SCAMS
Posts are spreading across Facebook that claim you can win your very own “Luxury RV” just for liking and sharing a post on Facebook.
We have reported on these fake claims that state you can win some expensive motor vehicle just for liking and sharing a Facebook post many times before. And it appears that scammers tend to prefer to use Luxury RV vehicles as bait, since there have been numerous examples of them being used to lure in unsuspecting Facebook users.
We previously reported on spam posts spreading on Facebook apparently offering Luxury RV’s before in 2016. And during 2017, RV’s seem to be the like-farmers ‘choice prize’ with dozens of Facebook pages all claiming that you can win one, just by sharing a post on Facebook (and following the spammy Facebook page.)

Once again we’d like to remind our readers that you are not going to win expensive items such as RV’s just for sharing a post on Facebook. These are called like-farming scams, which means spammers are just looking to trick users into following their Facebook pages and engaging with their posts – after all, popular well-engaged Facebook posts are a valuable online commodity, especially to marketing companies.

Yes, legitimate competitions do exist on Facebook, but these are –
A. Run from the official “blue ticked” Facebook page belonging to a brand (unless it’s a small local company, but these aren’t likely to be offering expensive items like motor vehicles.)
B. Won’t (or shouldn’t) ask you to share a Facebook post since this is against Facebook’s terms of service
C. Not going to appear on spammy Facebook pages that feature tons of other “competition” posts or like-farming posts.
We discuss how fake competitions work on Facebook here with more examples and how to spot them.

Remember, any Facebook post that constantly posts streams of “competitions” that claim you can win lots of expensive items just for following a page and sharing a post is likely going to be trying to lure you into a trap. So please don’t engage with these pages. Also watch out for posts that ask you to visit spammy marketing webpages to complete surveys or questionnaires – these are designed to harvest your contact information (to target you for spam.)
We have been warning our readers of these types of scams for a long time and still many people continue to be duped by them “just in case” they’re true. However these scams often lead to victims being targeted with excessive spam and even identity theft. Do not share these links on your own timeline as you are only putting your own friends at risk of the same scam, and remember to delete them if you do fall for this scam.
