Fake British Airways page tricking Facebook users with Majorca holiday for 4
A fake Facebook page pretending to be from British Airways is tricking users into sharing a post offering a free trip to Majorca for four people.
A copy of the post can be seen below –
Claire Roberts won the Christmas Majorca holiday for 4 but can’t make the dates (Aug 10-17th 2019). Share by 9pm to get it.
This is a typical Facebook like-farming post, which is attempting to trick users into liking and sharing the post on the belief they can win something in return. However that is not the case, since the page and the competition are fake.
Claiming that a user has already won the prize but can’t make it, as like the example above, is a trick. The person Claire Roberts isn’t real, and never won the prize. And the Facebook page above – British Airways Holidays – doesn’t really belong to British Airways.

There is a “sign up” link at the top of the Facebook page that leads to a spammy marketing website. At some point the post above that is being shared by thousands will be edited to include a link leading to that website and users will be told they have to visit it to stand a chance of winning. That website will harvest a visitor’s personal information and use it to spam them.
The Facebook page is clearly fake and doesn’t have the blue verification tick denoting a real page. Also the page has made only two other posts, and as such isn’t the real British Airways page. As usual we don’t recommend interacting with such fake posts whatsoever.
