Fake Facebook pages claim you can win iPhone 8 for sharing a post

Watch out for a number of fake Facebook pages purporting to be giving away a number of iPhone 8 devices for those that following their page and share their post.

In technology circles, the release of a new model Apple iPhone is a big deal. It’s also a big deal for like-farming spammers looking to use the latest must-have gadgets as bait to trick social media users.

And that’s why every year or so when Apple launch their latest phone, spammers quickly capitalise on the anticipation by setting up fake Facebook pages that claim to give them away.

And with (at the time of writing) only a number of weeks left before the launch of the iPhone 8, we’re seeing lots of like-farming pages looking to lure users into following their pages using the iPhone 8 as bait, including the post below.

Of course this is typical fake competition like-farming. Spammers set up fake Facebook pages, tell Facebook users that if they like and share their posts to their friends as well as following their Facebook page then they stand a chance of winning an iPhone 8. It’s all nonsense, of course. It’s just to lure you into following a Facebook page where you can later be targeted with other types of spam.

Other posts are likely going to try and lure Facebook users to spammy marketing webpages to “claim their iPhone 8” – however such websites are actually going to be asking visitors for all their contact information so they can be targeted with unsolicited marketing calls/emails.

Sorry, you’re not going to get an iPhone just for sharing a post on Facebook. It’s just another like-farming scam and we advise our readers to stay well away from them.
