Fake Facebook post claims you can win 7 tiny houses for sharing a post
A Facebook post is going viral offering readers the chance to win “7 tiny houses” providing they like and share the post and follow the page that posted it, called Holiday Club.
The post is just another fake Facebook competition. Those behind the fake competition are simply looking to lure Facebook users into following a Facebook page.
We have got 7 Tiny Houses that can’t be sold because they have been unsealed. Therefore we are giving them away for free. Want one of them? Just Share this photo& Like Ourpage and we will choose 7 people completely at random on 🔔21 June 🔔 ! As your Lucky day Comment ‘Done’
The post and the Facebook page behind it are clearly fake and display all the red flags we’ve been warning about or sometime when it comes to avoiding such scams. The Facebook page Holiday Club is a newly created page that only contains a handful of similar fake competition. It is clearly not related to any brand, and contains no contact information other than a fake address.
There is no website associated with the Facebook page, and the page has no blue verification tick that Facebook gives the official pages of well-known brands.

There is nothing to suggest this is a genuine competition. Users who follow the Facebook page are likely to be exposed to more spammy posts. Scams like this can also contact those who liked and shared these Facebook posts to try and extort money from them by falsely claiming they’ve won the prize but need an upfront fee to claim (read this post for more information on that type of scam.)
For more information in why participating in such fake competitions on Facebook can be dangerous or ill-advised, read here.

We're hoping to be totally ad-free by 2025 - after all, no one likes online adverts, and all they do is get in the way and slow everything down. But of course we still have fees and costs to pay, so please, please consider becoming a Facebook supporter! It costs only 0.99p (~$1.30) a month (you can stop at any time) and ensures we can still keep posting Cybersecurity themed content to help keep our communities safe and scam-free.
