FanBox – Unsolicited emails in our inbox. Reviewing FanBox.com

Article Updated: In 2013 we started getting an incessant amount of unsolicited email from something called FanBox, claiming someone we never heard of was sending us an “invite”…

Back in 2013 we wrote an article (here, now removed) about the website but after the threat of a Cease & Desist combined with the fact that we can no longer verify if the site still operated in the manner we previously described, we opted to remove the article.

Back in 2013 when we were sent all these invites, we hit the UnSubscribe link. Instead of being unsubscribed from whatever mailing list we found ourselves on, we were actually told to create an account since we had “accrued over $500”. Whether that is still the case with this site, we really have no idea.

But back then the site seemed spammy enough to write an article about, and a little research across the Internet quickly revealed that many people had plenty to say about Fanbox.com, and not much of it was particularly nice.

In fact even typing FanBox into Google and the autofill’s first guess was “Fanbox Scam”.

After a little more digging we found this site who investigating the website and did a pretty decent review about it, which we recommend reading.

Generally we always advise against signing up for websites that claim they can pay out more than you pay in without going into any real detail about how its business model works.
