Has Outback Steakhouse banned Trump supporters? Fact Check
Rumours that restaurant chain Outback Steakhouse have banned Trump supporters from their locations are spreading across social media.
The rumours originated from a meme (below) that claims the ban is because of the recent US Supreme Court decision that sided with a Colorado baker who refused a commission to make a cake for a gay wedding.
Citing the recent SCOTUS ruling regarding the bakery, Outback Steakhouse has announced it will no longer serve Trump supporters.
“We are Christian. And Trump stands resoundingly against all Christian morality. His supporters do the same by backing and defending him.”
However, the meme is false. It originated on the America’s Last Line Of Defense Facebook page, posted on July 31st 2018. The Facebook page and corresponding website are part of the “Busta Troll” network of spoof websites. “Busta Troll” is the handle of the author of such sites.
The Facebook page has posted a number of similarly fake memes, and has a disclaimer on its about page that reads –
Nothing on this page is real. It is a collection of the satirical whimsies of liberal trolls masquerading as conservatives. You have been warned.
We could find no press release or statement from any representative from Outback Steakhouse about imposing any such ban. As such, the meme can be safely dismissed as fake.
