Online rumours claim that Baywatch actress and model Pamela Anderson has died aged 50.
The rumours link back to an article written on the website abcnews-us.com, which claim Anderson died after collapsing in her bathroom due to complications from Hepatitis C. That article reads in part –
World famous Playboy model and Baywatch starlet Pamela Anderson has died at the age of 50.
At 8:00 am on March 12, the Los Angeles Fire Department responded to “a medical request” at the Los Angeles home of Anderson. She had apparently collapsed in a bathroom. Firefighters attended to Anderson on the scene before transporting her to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center, where she was admitted with complications attributed to Hepatitis C. According to Chief Coroner Jonathan Lucas M.D., during the course of her treatment Anderson developed pneumonia and died at 10:04 this morning after going into cardiac arrest.
However, despite the website abcnews-us.com bearing the ABC News logo at the top of its webpages, it has nothing to do with ABC News, and is in fact a fake news website designed to lure traffic with clickbaity headlines. The website was registered in late 2017.
As such, stories posted on this website should not be taken seriously until verified with a reputable source. In this instance, no other reputable sources are reporting on the death of Pamela Anderson, not even the real ABC News, and as such this can be dismissed as a hoax.
Even a cursory glance on Pamela’s Twitter account reveals she has posted tweets since the original publication date of this fake article.
