HOAX – England FC get second chance after match fixing allegations

Sorry England fans, the game against Uruguay will not be replayed because of match fixing allegations.

The headline, that claims the England vs Uruguay referee was involved in a match fixing scandal forcing the match to be replayed and giving England a “second chance”, is actually the product of a prank website that only days prior was responsible for a viral headline that claimed the drinking age in the US has been raised to 25.

The headline has been circulating along with the BBC News graphic across websites like Facebook, and even though clicking the headline took you to a website that outed the headline as nothing more than a joke, the rumour has still broken free, confusing many.

Often the website that started and later “outs” the prank is overwhelmed with visitors leading to many not being able to visit the busy website and thus discovering the headline was just a hoax.
