HUGE PLANE CRASHES INTO BRIDGE Facebook Video Spam
Spammers are always on the lookout for new content they can use to bait Facebook users into clicking links on the social networking site.
And an image of what appears to be a plane crashing into a bridge is the latest “video” circulating Facebook.
However, just like dozens of other share-to-watch Facebook spam videos that have popped up in early 2014, this is just another fake video that doesn’t exist, and the sole purpose of the spam is to lure visitors into sharing the link on their Facebook timeline thus spreading it to their friends.
Whilst we were unable to progress from the share stage, these scams will often try and either install malware on to a user’s computer by luring them into downloading fake video updates, or by tricking them into survey scams.
In the case of the above video, it is actually not a video at all. The image is just that – a still image, taken from the portfolio of a graphic designer named Steve McGhee. Visit his page here.
If you did download something suspicious onto your computer from this or a similar scam, remember to run a full antvirus scan with up-to-date antivirus. If you’re looking for reputable security software or looking to update, click here for our recommendations.
