A link is spreading across social media, especially Facebook, that claims that Sainsbury’s is gifting free £40 vouchers for those that click a link.
As is typical with these scams, upon clicking the link, a victim is first asked a series of questions that – regardless of their answers – are told they qualify for the free voucher. Then a victim is told to share the link to their Facebook account, before then being forwarded to any number of spammy websites designed to harvest their personal information via surveys.
An example of the link can be seen below.

Scammers have been falsely advertising free vouchers as a way of luring victims to spammy websites for years, and this scam is nothing new. However Facebook users continue to fall for such nonsense, and as such these scams are still out in full force.
If a Facebook users clicks the link and shares the link onto their own timeline and goes on to fill out the surveys, they can expect to be the target for spammers, through email, phone, text and even postal. Their information could also be sold to other companies or used for a number of nefarious purposes.

Of course, once someone has filled out these surveys and find out there is no voucher on offer, it is too late and they’ve already fallen for the scam.
Please stop falling for these scams. Sainsbury’s are not gifting free £40 vouchers just for clicking a link on Facebook. If any brand executes a promotion on social media, it will be done through their official social media channels that will lead to their website, not random websites as is the case here.
