Is the “It’s Coming Home” RAF Spitfire flyby video real? Fact Check
A video of what appears to show a flyby of dozens of Spitfire aircraft spelling out the words “It’s Coming Home” is going viral across social media.
The term “It’s Coming Home” refers to the UK and their chances of winning the football World Cup.
The video has been viewed several million times and shared without credit, leading many viewers to question the legitimacy the video (embedded below.)

These RAF100 fly pasts keep getting more and more impressive!
As most viewers suspected, the video is the result of digital manipulation, and not genuine. A simple search of the video shows it was originally uploaded on July 10th 2018 by Potion Pictures, an “award-winning motion graphics and animation studio“, who claim the work was created by Dan Norman of the same company.

Had the flyby been genuine, it would have naturally garnered much media attention, and no doubt a few questions as well, since the captions attached to the video claim it shows the Spitfire aircraft, but there are not nearly enough working Spitfire aircraft today to have created the spectacle in the video.
There are around a 100 aircraft in the video, over double the estimated number of working Spitfire planes around today.
As such, the video is fake, and it shouldn’t be shared as if it were a genuine occurrence
