A series of rumours claim that NASA has confirmed that Earth will experience 15 days of darkness in November 2017.
The rumours are false. This is just the latest incarnation of a long running hoax that claims NASA have announced a period of sustained darkness during a period of time in the near future.
For example, in 2014, the rumour claimed that NASA had confirmed a period of darkness lasting 6 days scheduled in December 2014. That wasn’t true, but in 2016 the hoax reappeared claiming the darkness would last 15 days over November 2016. In fact this rumour has appeared a number of times over the last few years, all of them quoting different months in different years for different amounts of time.
The hoax actually originated from popular fake news website Huzlers.com, and largely down to its initial success, a number of other websites have copied the hoax and applied different dates.
It isn’t true. It has never been true, and as such we don’t recommend circulating it as true.
