NASA confirms 6 days of darkness?

Rumours are spreading on the Internet that space agency NASA have confirmed that Earth will experience 6 days of total darkness in December 2014.

Later variants have changed the dates, including one that states June 2015.

The report states –

NASA has confirmed that the Earth will experience 6 days of almost complete darkness and will happen from the dates Tuesday the 16 – Monday the 22 in December. The world will remain, during these three days, without sunlight due to a solar storm, which will cause dust and space debris to become plentiful and thus, block 90% sunlight.

The absurd report, courtesy of popular fauxtire website Huzlers is, perhaps unsurprisingly, total nonsense. Huzlers, like other popular fake news websites like National Report, purposely posts fanciful articles under the weak guise of satire.

Other websites picking up the fake story have also helped to reignite this absurd claim over time, including sites like anonymousmags.com and theracketreport.com, amongst others. These sites publish a near identical article to the original Huzlers article, merely changing the date of the alleged phenomena to suit the date of publication.

Huzlers.com have been responsible for a number of viral rumours over the last year, including stories about the Superbowl being rigged and helped propagate the popular hoax about a 3 breasted masseuse!

Nothing on these low quality “news” sites should be taken seriously. NASA have released no such report on their website or via their press release channels. You can read more about fauxtire websites here.
