Rumours are spreading via social media that popular cookie manufacturer Oreo are producing a fried chicken flavour.
And whilst some users displayed intrigue, just as many showed their disgust. In fact what you should have done is exhibited your scepticism.
Because it isn’t true.
The rumour actually originally gained traction back in July 2014 when a user-generated image (above) surfaced on Instagram as a joke. According to the uploader, it was a joke her cousin sent her as a spin-off to the fruit punch flavour.
From the Instagram uploader –
NO ITS NOT REAL! it’s a joke my cousin sent as a spin to the fruit punch cookie. Next thing gonna make is fried chicken get it? Funny ha ha but not funny at the same time.
The company behind Oreo cookies have also weighed in, confirming that the image is nothing but a little bit of fan fiction.
“A fan who really liked the Fruit Punch flavor came up with the fried chicken OREO packaging photo as a sort of joke. It’s clearly gotten some traction over the internet, but the Fried Chicken OREO flavor is fake.”
Oreo’s have come in various novelty flavours over the years, but fried chicken is not one of them. Were you intrigued or disgusted by the prospect of fried chicken flavoured Oreo’s? Let us know below.
