Did Obama put his hand on Melania Trump’s backside? Fact Check

A photo is circulating social media that appears to show President Barack Obama putting his hand on the backside of First Lady Melania Trump as he welcomed her and President Donald Trump into the White House during Trump’s inauguration day.

The photo was uploaded by the Facebook page “No Lapdog Media II” on January 22nd 2017 under the caption “How will Obama mansplain this?”

Well, if Obama did have to “mansplain” the incident, he could probably do so with relative ease, since the photo has been digitally altered. It is a still taken from a video during Trump’s inauguration day when the Obama’s greeted the Trumps at the White House before leading them inside.

The original wasn’t too hard to track down, and we have both the photoshopped still (top) and the original still (bottom) here for comparison…

The hoaxer responsible for the digital creation made some glaring bloopers, namely they didn’t remove Obama’s original arm from the photo, making it a rather obvious fake.

However this hasn’t stopped many social media users from sharing it anyway. To confirm, throughout the entire video, Obama’s hand was never near Melania Trump’s behind. It’s a hoax.
