Does photo show Tony Blair with feet resting on coffin? Fact Check

A photo claims to show former UK Prime Minister Tony Blair resting his feet on an Union Jack draped coffin whilst on a cargo plane.

FALSE

An example of the photo as it appeared on social media is below.

The photo first appeared back in 2012 and immediately caused outrage amongst social media users who denounced the photo as a sign of disrespect.

However the more sceptical viewers may have questioned the authenticity of the photo. In a world where powerful digital editing software is available to almost anyone with a computer, it is prudent to remain sceptical of photos that depict scenes like this one.

And those sceptical readers have a right to be cynical about this photo, because it’s fake. The signature that appears on the original composition reads beaubodor, who is a graphic artist working at BBDO.co.uk who – by his own admission – uses Photoshop to create various digital works. Before the site when under renovation, this photo appeared on his website.

So no, Tony Blair didn’t inexplicably grow his legs an additional 4 feet, and nor did he rest them on the coffin on what is presumably supposed to be a fallen British soldier. We rank this photo false.
