Photos claim to show young, drunk or passed out Christine Blasey Ford – Fact Check

A series of photos are spreading online claiming to show images of a younger Christine Blasey Ford. Many such photos attempt to depict her as a “party girl” and heavy drinker.

Christine Blasey Ford – at the time of writing – is a university professor who has accused Supreme Court nominee Brett Kavanaugh of sexual assault when they were both teenagers.

Of all the “incriminating” photos that we have seen, none actually depict Blasey Ford, including the ones listed below.

The above photo (we’ve blurred out segments) is a photo that has been floating across the Internet for a number of years, and is often included in college party themed memes. The quality of the photo and its surroundings reveal the photo is far too contemporary to be a photo of a young Blasey-Ford. For example, the Pepsi can shows the drink’s more current branding. Pepsi introduced their predominately blue can in the mid-late 1990s. In the 1980s when Blasey-Ford would have attended college the cans were predominately white and red.

This particularly unscrupulous meme above, which seems to imply that only “attractive” women can suffer sexual assault, is a yearbook photo that has been doing the online rounds for years and even appeared in a 2012 Daily Mail article on the worse yearbook photos, who in turn took the photo from a ’50 funniest awkward phase photos’ collection from WorldWideInterweb.com. The person in the photo is not known.

The above photo again appears to be from the wrong time period, and again it is a photo that has been freely available on the Internet for some time with memes and instances of the photo dating back many years without reference to Christine Blasey Ford. The quality of the photo suggest it was taken around the 1960s, in which case Blasey Ford is far too young to be the person in the photo since she was born in 1966. The person in the photo is unknown.
