Play Where’s Waldo on Google Maps; best April Fool’s 2018

It’s that time of the year again, where the Internet is rife with digital tomfoolery. April Fool’s fell on Easter Sunday this year, but it seems the Internet wasn’t too preoccupied with chocolate eggs to have a little fun…

Google

Google is always the go-to company for anyone writing about the top April Fools jokes online, and this year they’ve had their fun as usual. How about a keyboard where you no longer have to memorise where the keys are, rather just lazily swipe over the keyboard where “machine learning” detects what you really want to write?

Or how about an app to remove bad jokes that you receive on your smartphone?

Perhaps the most entertaining of the lot is Google’s inclusion of Where’s Waldo? On their Maps feature. For the next week, simply click Waldo (that’s Wally, for our UK readers) and see if you can spot him and his friends in various locations across the World, including Chile, Australia and South Korea. A fun way to consume an hour or so on a lazy Easter Monday!

Lego sorting vacuum

We know there are a ton of parents out there that were wishing this one was real, but sadly, the vacuum cleaner designed to pick up and even sort Lego bricks was sadly a wind-up. The advert claimed that the vacuum picks up an Lego brick, and sorts them by color and size, as well as separates them from dust or dirt or whatever else it picks up. We feel so let down that this isn’t a real thing.

Netflix acquires Seth Rogen?

Trust Netflix to create an April Fool’s Joke slash blatant advertisement for an upcoming Seth Rogan comedy special. On their homepage the video streaming service proudly announced they had bought Seth Rogan out right. His mind. His body. And his soul. Creepy? Yes. But not true.

Snapchat

Snapchat has been trolling Facebook over the April Fools period, introducing a new filter that throws the Facebook user interface over your photo showing Russian bots liking your photo. Now you can make it seem like Russian bots aren’t just influencing important elections, but they’re also liking your pics too!

SodaStream

Bathe in carbonated water? Sounds a bit weird but why not? That’s what SodaStream were hoping people would be thinking with this April Fool’s hoax, even listing the product in Bed Bath & Beyond. The product would apparently carbonate your bathtub, which, according to Reza Farahan, is pretty good for your skin. There is even a promotional advert featuring The Mountain and a website to help land the joke!
