Fact Check

RV used in Nashville explosion have different stripes to Warner’s RV?

Rumours online claim that the RV used in the Nashville bombing is a different vehicle than the RV seen parked outside the perpetrators house as seen in Google Street View, thus proving the man identified as committing the bombing – Anthony Warner – was actually set up.

FALSE

Amid the aftermath of the bombing in Nashville on Christmas Day in 2020, authorities soon announced the perpetrator, Anthony Warner, killed himself in the attack after he detonated a bomb inside his RV.

Incidents of this ilk are often targeted by conspiracy theorists hellbent on trying to prove that such events were actually planned by shadowy elements working in the government for various nefarious reasons.

The claim here is that a Google Street View photo of Warner’s RV shows that it has two stripes around the top of the vehicle where the RV pictured on CCTV at the scene of the explosion only had one. See below.

This is false.

The RV in question appears to be a Four Winds Chateau Sport 28A or 29Q model from around the mid-to-late 1990s. Research online shows that many of the models that are a close match to the RV in question only have one line at the top of the vehicle, not two. We were unable to find any model RV resembling the RV in question that had two stripes around the top of the vehicle.

So why the appearance of the second stripe in the photo of the RV outside Warner’s house? Such RV models had a railing type fixture around the top of the vehicle, and it is that railing that appears to be casting a shadow from the sun that gives the impression of a second stripe in the image of the RV outside Warner’s house. This shadow appears to give the impression of a second stripe. See below for images of similar RVs that show this railing (but not a second stripe.)

Additionally, Google Street View images of the RV taken at different times show the shadow is less pronounced when the sun is lower in the sky, further suggesting this is a shadow, and not a stripe. See below.

Shadows also appear to suggest why there is a dark rectangular shape next to the middle window, since this appears to be a shadow from a protruding airflow unit next to the window in the same location.

We cannot find any reason to suggest these RVs are different.
