Scam – Free Disney Cruise Lines balcony room Facebook post

A Facebook post purporting to offer a free balcony room with Disney Cruise Lines for 3 people is a scam designed to lure visitors to spammy marketing webpages.

The post links to a marketing webpage that claims visitors must complete a series of questionnaires and surveys to obtain the free room, which is – according to the post – being given away for free due to a last minute cancellation. The post can be seen below.

Due to a last minute cancellation we have a 1 bedroom balcony room for 3 people available so we’re giving it away. The 14 day Mediterranean cruise departs on 1st January 2017. Simply follow the steps below to win.
1. Share this photo.
2. Visit: http://familywegooout.net to claim your cruise.
3. Like our page.

However the offer has nothing to do with Disney Cruises and the Facebook page that made the post – called Disney Cruise Lines – is a like-farming page that posts these fake offers in order to lure people into liking the page. You can learn more about like-farming and how they work through this link here.

You can also learn about “share to win” type Facebook posts in our blog post here.

In this case the page that made the post is clearly a typical like-farming Facebook page. It was only created the day prior and only contains 2 posts. It also lacks the blue verification tick that Facebook gives to pages that are officially linked to a brand.

Remember that if you click these links and complete the surveys, you’ll be giving away your personal contact information to spammers. There are no free tickets for a Disney Cruise on offer here. It is just a scam.
