Scam – Free Honda CBR150R for sharing a Facebook post
A Facebook post claiming to be offering free Honda CBR150R sports bikes for those that share the post onto their timeline is spreading across the social networking website. However it is a fake giveaway like-farming scam.
The Facebook post implores readers to share it onto their timelines to stand a chance of winning. It also claims you need to like their Facebook page and comment which colour you want to stand a chance of winning.

Our veteran followers will not be surprised to learn that this is just a typical like-farming scam that uses the bait of a free giveaway or offer to lure unsuspecting Facebook users into liking a Facebook page. Like-farming is a popular type of spam on Facebook and it describes the process in which spammers manipulate Facebook users into liking a page on Facebook and sharing or liking the posts it makes. Fake giveaways like this are famous for trying to directing Facebook users to spammy marketing webpages. It is likely that the post will be later edited to include a link to a spammy marketing webpage, or future posts made by the page (which the user is instructed to follow) will include links to such marketing webpages. The spammers behind these like-farming scams will receive a commission every time they lure people to such websites.

And of course, the free Honda motorcyles do not exist. It’s just a fake offer used as bait.
In this case the page that made the post is clearly a typical like-farming Facebook page. It lacks the blue verification tick that Facebook gives to pages that are officially linked to a brand, and thus the offer has nothing to do with the official Honda brand. The page – called Honda Cb150r Philippines – at the time of writing has made only a handful of posts, most of which are also apparently giving away motorcycles to those that share posts. This is a popular hallmark of a fake giveaway scam.
We recommend avoiding spreading these types of posts. You are exposing both yourself and your friends to spam and potentially much more serious scams.
