A screenshot of a 2015 tweet where Donald Trump talks about the “Dow Joans” and claims if it falls under 1000 points the sitting president should be shot out of a cannon is fake.
The tweet – which misspells Dow Jones – can be seen below. It was originally published by Shaun Usher, of the blog LettersOfNote.com and not intended to be taken seriously.
Immediately after posting the screenshot, it managed to go viral, managing to accumulate over 28,000 retweets. However Usher has since claimed it was meant to be taken as satire.
A search for Trump’s archive of tweets, which would includes deleted tweets, reveals the current president never made such a tweet.

Usher soon confirmed that the tweet was never meant to be taken seriously.
As such, the tweet is completely fake. There are a number of online services that allow anyone to conjure up completely fake tweets as screenshots that look completely real. As such, if you ever see a screenshot of a tweet posted by somebody else, don’t assume it is real.
