Did Trump order Obama Highway to return to former Old Dixie name? Fact Check

A variety of websites have launched articles claiming that President Trump has ordered that the President Obama Highway in Riviera Beach, Florida to return to his former name, Old Dixie Highway.

Towards the end of 2015, a stretch of highway called Old Dixie Highway was renamed to President Obama Highway, because many claimed the Old Dixie Highway name paid homage to an era that glorified racism and slavery.

However a variety of similar headlines have asserted that President Trump has ordered that the President Obama Highway be returned to its previous name. Such a headline on the website conservativedaily.info reads ” Trump Orders to Remove Obama Highway Name and Get Back The Previous Name of `Old Dixie’ Highway?Do you support him?

However, when reading past the headlines, the article itself makes no mention of such an order by President Trump, and is actually just an article on the original renaming back in 2015 from Old Dixie Highway to President Obama Highway.

As such, while the article itself about the original renaming back in 2015 is true (though not somewhat old news) the headlines that Trump has ordered the name switch be reversed appears to be false news. There are no credible reports from any media outlets or from the White House that confirm such a move.
