Was Kevin Hart paralyzed after car crash? Fact Check

Messages spreading online claim that US actor Kevin Hart was paralyzed after a serious car crash.

FALSE

During the early hours of Sunday, September 1st, US actor Kevin Hart was involved in a serious traffic collision, as prolifically reported by a number of mainstream media outlets. According to those reports, Hart and driver Jared Black both sustained serious back injuries.

However in the hours following the crash, a number of spurious reports surfaced online. While some claimed that Hart had perished in the collision, a more popular fake story claimed that the actor was paralyzed after the crash.

One such iteration of this story was published on the site LFR Solutions, which dubs itself as the “hottest source for the latest in urban entertainment.” That site published an article with the headline Kevin Hart Paralyzed After Car Accident, Permanently Injures Vocal Cords”[sic].

In the article, it is claimed that the actor was paralyzed from the neck down.

The article isn’t real however. The site seems to publish nonsense news, calling it satire. There is a disclaimer at the bottom of each page, but you’ll most likely miss it since it was so small that we needed to copy and paste it and enlarge it to see what it said. The disclaimer is below –

As such, the story is nonsense. At the time of writing, the latest news on Hart’s condition is that after surgery for back injuries sustained during the crash, Kevin Hart is expected to be “fine”, according to his wife.
