Watch out for ‘$60 Kroger coupon’ scam links spreading on Facebook

Links are spreading across Facebook claiming to provide a $60 Kroger coupon which, according to the links, is to celebrate the companies 130th anniversary.

An example of these links can be seen below –

However, as our regular readers will no doubt be aware, this is a typical spammy survey scam, that is designed purely to lure visitors to spammy marketing webpages that are set up to harvest the personal details of those who try and get these free coupons.

However there is no free $60 coupon for Kroger available, and the assertion that the company is giving away such vouchers for their 130th anniversary is false – they are not even celebrating such an anniversary.

Visitors who click through to the links and complete the subsequent surveys are giving their details away to a variety of third party marketing companies, and as such as expect a sudden surge of spam sent to their email, postal address, even their phone.

These scams that purport to be giving away vouchers, gift cards or coupons for a company’s “anniversary” is a popular way of baiting victims into giving away their personal contact information.

We strongly recommend our readers avoid clicking through to such sites when they see these links appear on their newsfeed. They are scams. No such coupons exist.
