Readers are advised to be on the lookout for emails that appear to have come from online retailer Amazon claiming your order has been cancelled.
The emails claim that “your order has been successfully canceled” and provides an order number which the user can click on.
However these emails did not come from Amazon. They are sent to email users from cyber spammers who are using this social engineering trick to users into clicking the link out of curiosity.
However those links will certainly not lead to the Amazon website, rather in the cases we have seen these links lead to spammy websites peddling dodgy healthcare products that use fake celebrity endorsements to gain credibility.

The spammers hope that at least a small number of the recipients of their emails will click the links and ultimately purchase these products, and in doing so entangle themselves into hard to cancel subscriptions for health supplements that are promoted using a variety of hyped sales claims.
Of course these emails can also potentially lead to other scams as well, such as phishing scams that lead to spoof login pages designed to steal your login information, or may be even websites that would attempt to trick users into downloading malware.
Email users should always be extremely cautious when receiving emails that appear to come from popular retailers as they are often not genuine. If you want to check the status of an order, you can go directly to the website itself by typing in the web address in your Internet browser. Often the links in these emails can potentially take you anywhere, to any type of online crime.
