Facebook posts purporting to be giving away a Range Rover V8 for sharing a post is spreading virally across the social networking website.

The posts below claim that users can stand a chance of winning a Range Rover V8 if they share and like a post and like a Page. It’s a very well-used type of ploy, most likely perpetrated by the same spammers who created a near identical ruse in December 2014.

The Facebook pages that post these “offers” have accrued many thousands of Likes in only a matter of days, and if you go to the Pages themselves you will see that the posts offering the Range Rover V8 is one of only a few posts made from the page, a sure fire indication of an obvious scam. The Facebook page has nothing to do with the official Range Rover brand.

These scams are referred to as like-farming scams, meaning they are designed, at least in part, to help a Facebook Page garner many thousands of Likes.

Range Rover, along with many other brands, are often targeted with these types of fake giveaway like-farming scams, with prolific spam campaigns surfacing in 2014, 2015 and 2016, all purporting to give away Range Rovers.

We’ve been warning of these types of scams for a long time and people continue to fall for them “just in case” they’re true. However these scams often lead to victims being targeted with excessive spam and even identity theft. Do not share these links on your own timeline as you are only putting your own friends at risk of the same scam, and remember to delete them if you do fall for this scam.
