Yes, Facebooks Look Back Videos Are Real #FacebookIs10

We’ve been getting plenty of questions about the Facebook “Look Back” videos that are currently flooding peoples newsfeeds.

The feature is a genuine feature, created to celebrate Facebook’s tenth birthday. Each video is personalised to each Facebook user, and features several photos and posts that have proved the most popular in terms of Likes during the users tenure on the social networking site.

It appears that initially only you can see your own “look back” video when you visit the webpage www.facebook.com/lookback – however each user has the ability to share the movie onto their timeline for their friends to see, where it is given the privacy setting that you have set as your default setting (which of course should be friends only!)

If you choose to share the movie, it is posted on to your timeline with the message – Here’s my Facebook film. Find yours at http://facebook.com/lookback.

A couple of points to note –

– You can visit your video by going to the aforementioned URL address. Don’t be fooled by rogue apps or spoof sites that may try and exploit this feature.

– There is no indication that private photos are being made public or having incorrect settings attributed them because of this feature.

Incidentally, if you do not have enough content on your Facebook timeline to fill a “look back” video, you just get a Thank You card instead. In case you were wondering.
