A fake Facebook page claiming to be Currys has posted a message apparently offering 7 Apple MacBook Pros that will be given to Facebook users who share the post.
The post claims that the Apple MacBooks Pros have scratches and as such cannot be sold.

7 Apple MacBook Pro’s which have scratches and can’t be sold will be given to 7 random shares in 12hrs.
Our readers will know that this is a typical fake giveaway on Facebook, and the Facebook page doesn’t belong to Currys. Those who share the post are told to click a link that leads to a spammy marketing website that harvests visitor information in order to spam them with unsolicited offers and potentially more serious Internet scams.

The usual giveaways of these scams are present. These include –
– No blue verification tick on the page. Verified Facebook pages belonging to official pages are blue ticked. There is no blue tick.
– The Page Transparency tool on the Facebook page reveals the page was created on May 15th 2019. Official Facebook pages will inevitably be much older.
– The post urges those who engage with it to click a link that leads to a third party website not affiliated with Currys. This website asks the visitor for their contact information to continue.
– The post claims to offer high value prizes just for sharing a post.
As usual, we recommend not engaging with these sorts of posts as they’re run by scammers and could expose you to online scams. You can read more about such online scams in our post here.
